Things I've 3D Printed!

My friend has a 3D Printer (Honestly, he doesn't use it very much).

So I've bugged him enough to print a few things for me:

1. Astroboy

I watched the 2003 Astroboy show when I was younger.

I thought it would be great project to get a 3D model of the Astroboy character printed, then paint it myself.

I Found a detailed, high quality model online: and was able to get it printed (it came broken in a few sections, which needed to be glued together after the fact).

The amount of detail in the print is insane: up close, you can see the gradiation and layers that the resin curing printer leaves in the model.

Painted with enamel (model) paint. It was far more finnicky and difficult than I expected, tricky to find a brush fine enough to get highlights of the model picked out (pupils of the eye, buckle of belt).

The black paint has a nice shine that I feel works well for the moulded faux metal hair.

2. Wipeout 2048 Feisar Prototype Ship

I have a PS Vita from 2012, and played Wipeout 2048 . A futuristic racing game based on a fictional evolution of formula 1.

There was a strong narrative of teams with cars/ships that specialised in different areas.

Teams: Feisar, AG Systems, Auricom Speed, Phirana Ship Classes: Speed, Agility, Fighter, Prototype

The prototype ships, unlocked toward the end of the campaign with hidden challenges, tended to look the most intersting and had "experiemntal" parts to their form/design/

The Feiser Prototype had a particularly appealing design to me: with a super elongated form and a cool add-on front spoiler.

3D Models for all the ships were available online and someone had already posted results from a 3D print on reddit: his project in producing a physical model of this ship with decals and a stand!

I got Joe to print the model for me (which came out in insane detail), then printed the decal stickets onto sticky back paper.
